The brain has both a success mechanism and a failure mechanism. The failure mechanism is the temptation to follow the undisciplined path of least resistance, to do what is fun and easy rarher than what is hard and necessary.
The failure mechanism operates automatically throughout your life, which is the major reason why most people fail to fulfill their individual potentials.
While your failure mechanism functions automatically your success mechanism is triggered by a goal. When you decide on a goal, you override your failure mechanism, and you can change the direction of your life. You go from being a ship with a rudder, drifting with the tide, to being a ship with a rudder, a compass, and a clear destination, sailing in a straight direction towards your goal.
It was a final quest in 2024, a summer programme organized by Emaluck Institute, titled "Look Inside the Book Initiative" pioneered by Engr. (Dr.) Emmanuel Binitie. It was a concept to encourage students to cultivate the habit of reading in and outside the school. The tutors firstly enticed the students with captivating pictures from the book then ultimately encourage the students to study a character that is what observing and reading, and then on and on till the book is completely read and understood.
As usual, SpringsComm organizes her annual quiz competitions for secondary schools and all preparations was made in place, logistics in place for official invitations, date was fixed to be my birthday. Letters were written signed and stamped before dispatching to different schools, ministries and organizations within the Akinyele Local Government Area of Ibadan in Oyo State, Nigeria. On the D-day, something caught my attention. Afterall SpringsComm was dominating comprehensively from the bottom to the top. It was a modern-day David triumphing over obstacles known as Goliath. The story of SpringsComm events has always been a movie but this was a drama entirely where no one of us was prepared for. There were moments of disaster (book launch inserted in thr program turned sour) of high risk (it was a time to make or break our investments) with long days of unrelenting hardwork thrown down the drain when some officials badged into an ongoing event and forcefully stopped us from continuing as we could not meet up with their impromptu requests.
SpringsComm had a strategy that was smart and cool, we kept our customers (schools that were invited for the quiz) in full focus, understood their needs and applied that knowledge. SpringsComm chose its people well, and recognized and rewarded them appropriately (prizes for students who out-performed their counterparts).
Collaboration and diversity bring opportunities, but they also bring frictions, which slow down things. SpringsComm refusal to bend to the tune of the local officials from the Ministry of Education resulted into the abrupt stoppage of the 2nd Edition of the Quiz Competition. Sunsequently, the issue was resolved but it was too late to get the spilled coffee back in the mug. A bribe won't do! Since they refused to find a balance in our initial letters of support sent to them before we began the event.
As such SpringsComm contracted "Emaluck Institute" accredited by Robert Kennedy College, Zurich, Switzerland that offers online and offline lectures and certificate programs to finalized the screening process of the quiz in the reapective schools.
Details from Documentary 2: The Final Quest
We finally subjected to "Economy of Effort". Results and winners of the 2nd Edition Inter-Schools Quiz Competition was broadcasted live on Springs TV.
